The 12 professional voices of the Downtown Music Chorale remember the American Revolution and the Battle of White Plains with
a program which celebrates the tremendous variety of music available in the American colonies.  Works of William Billings, G.F. Handel and the Moravian composers C.F. Peter and David Moritz Michael will be featured alongside latter-day, Broadway compositions of Rogers and Hart Jerry Herman and Sherman Edwards.

This concert is presented courtesy of the City of White Plains RW 250 Committee in honor of those who served the cause of American independence in the Battle of White Plains; October, 1776.

Timothy Lewis has served as Artistic and Managing Director of Downtown Music 1988. As an organist, he has been heard in concert at The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, the early music series at St. Peter’s Church, and at the Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church where he performed the New York premiere of Ruth Schonthal’s The Temptation of St. Anthony. He served as conductor for the east coast premiere of The Three Hermits, an opera by the American composer, Stephen Paulus. Lewis, whose articles on church music have been published by Yale University, is Director of Music and Organist at the Episcopal Church of the Messiah in Rhinebeck, New York.
